As the global energy industry faces the dual challenge of maintaining oil and gas operations while accelerating the transition to low-carbon business models, the demand for new skill sets has reached a critical point. To meet these needs, PetroSkills is expanding its scope under the newly formed The Competency Alliance.
A Multi-Sector Energy Alliance The Competency Alliance integrates three major energy sectors to provide comprehensive workforce development:
PetroSkills: Continues its 50-year legacy of serving the Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream oil and gas sectors.
NetZeroSkills: Focuses on Greenhouse Gas Management, Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS), and Hydrogen technologies.
RenewableSkills: Specializes in Wind and Geothermal energy sectors.
Leveraging an Industry-Collaboration Model The Alliance utilizes a collaborative framework where energy companies work together to build performance-ready professionals. By sharing the development costs of standardized training and benchmarking competencies, members can access high-quality training solutions more efficiently than by developing them in-house individually.
Beyond Traditional Training The Competency Alliance offers a broader suite of services than traditional training, including:
Digital and online learning platforms.
Certification and assessment programs.
Competency consulting and workforce data analytics.
"The Alliance model has been very successful for over 20 years. We are now leveraging our proven capabilities and processes to develop and deliver high-quality competency management and training solutions to new energy sectors," says Tony Sperduti, Senior Vice President of Renewables and Net-Zero Energy for The Competency Alliance.
Currently, the Alliance offers over 200 instructor-led courses and thousands of hours of eLearning content, all built on Competency Maps vetted by industry Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). This expansion ensures that professionals can bridge the gap between traditional petroleum engineering and the rapidly evolving energy transition landscape.
